Transformation

Once you Book an exploratory session, you’ll have taken the first step to becoming a masterful leader.

We believe that the COVID pandemic taught us that we need to be highly adaptive and meet challenges that don’t exist yet. You deserve to have the people around you that are equipped to lead (no matter what happens). In short… We help executives to become masterful leaders who inspire and lead high-functioning teams.

Moira Bassingthwaighte

I have “known” Barbara for a few years, towards the end of last year, Barbara joined a meeting, smiling, happy and bubbly – at the time, I remember thinking “I want what she is taking!” Barbara shared her journey regarding positive intelligence with us, the changes it had made to her life, both in the workspace and on a personal level. For the last 7 weeks I have been part of a Positive Intelligence pod Barbara has been coaching – Barbara really commits to the session and to the Pod members – listens and guides without pre-empting or judgement, giving a different perspective and a new way of looking at things – sage advice! She has given me the tools to use to make the changes in my own life – ever grateful!

At Nzou Leadership Development, We get it.

We understand how lonely leadership can inevitably become. How the pressures of building a proactive, high performing team in the uncertain times can escalate and become overwhelming. Our methodology is the culmination of over 30 years experience of empowering corporate leaders, helping them lead inspired teams who move forward together.

As the founder of Nzou Global Leadership Development, I have fulfilled a senior leadership role spanning 25 years leading large scale programmes to implement business strategy and legal compliance. Most of this work was completed in large scale financial services conglomerates in South Africa and 7 other African countries. In my own leadership development journey I became aware of the need to effectively lead change initiatives taking all the key stakeholders on the journey. Most programmes fail, not because it was the wrong strategy, but because as leaders we failed to inspire followership in the key people we needed to make the changes happen effectively. This led to less than optimal strategy implementation, and new business solutions did not thrive.

After completing an honours degree in clinical psychology (cum laude), I pivoted my personal learning to leadership coaching. At a luncheon with the managing director of one of the large conglomerates I worked for, everyone had to introduce themselves, and my

fellow guests were all actuaries, accountants and lawyers. When I introduced myself as programme manager for a business that was making in excess of R1 billion in profit annually, I was asked why I had studied psychology and coaching. My answer was simple. My Prince 2 accreditation had given me project management methodology to follow. I explained that creating a business case, project scope of work, project plan, resource plan and budget, was the easy part. Getting everyone in the team and all stakeholders to row in the same direction for 2 – 5 years was the hard part.

I became fascinated with leading organisational change and was accredited to run a course entitled “Leadership Coaching Towards Intercultural Competence”. After completing a masters degree in leadership coaching through Middlesex University in the united Kingdom, I went on to complete a PhD in Leadership Coaching Towards Intercultural Competence.

Leading projects and coaching in 7 African countries led me on a journey to understanding cross-cultural leadership, and how to effectively work with diverse cultures, again towards making business solutions that thrived.

Dr. Barbara van Heerden conducted the Enneagram course with me a last year. Barbara was very professional and confident. Her explanations were clear and to the point. She made me feel comfortable throughout the duration of the sessions and I felt that she knew the area of work and how to teach it effectively. Dr. van Heerden has to be commended for her insight, people skills and patience.

Towards self-actualisation

When I signed up for the Positive Intelligence Program, I was in a very bad space personally. I reluctantly thought, oh well, let’s try it. I never anticipated that it would provide me with the purpose and joyfulness I so craved.

Yet, within 3 sessions, I did a 180-degree turnaround! My life transitioned slowly, but surely, for the better. I opened up my shell, and the universe became a magic place again! My husband, family, friends, and colleagues all noticed the difference. And with Barbara’s amazing coaching, I now am in the position to be in that magic place on a daily basis. PLUS, I know exactly how to get into my positive universe.

I have known and respected Barbara for many years as a colleague, but this year she made an enormous difference in my life and future! I would highly recommend her as a coach. Barbara is super intuitive, a great listener, and very talented as a coach. She is a game changer.

You will never look back………….

Eloise Petzer

I am part of the support structure in NZOU and deem it an honour to be the grease that keeps the cogs of the wheel going. My passion is creating hope for tomorrow by making a difference in my community through the essence of facilitation. My initial approach was working with children in their foundation years because they will become tomorrow’s leaders. Until I realized that the people who help form the leaders of
tomorrow, need guidance themselves. This brought me to being a teacher of teachers, through facilitation, formative feedback, and mentorship. I have come to appreciate the journey of life as a whole, because of my interaction with people in their uniqueness and yet collaborative “sameness” as humans.
